And The UPS!

Well Gavin had another appointment at Primary Childrens on the 19th. We were pretty nervous about what they would decide to do and about his weight, well he weighed....14lbs 1oz! He gained!!! We are very excited and relieved. Although still pretty underweight he is growing now. The doctor said that he was very concerned about his last weight and now he feeling more positive about his diagnosis, this is good because this diagnosis is one that Gavin will grow out of. However...he is still being watched very very very carefully, there is a small chance that he will stop growing again and will have to have the bowel biopsy but everyday looks more and more positive. He will be reweighed in 2 weeks and seen by Primary again in 1 month. We feel very blessed to have so many family and friends keeping us in their thoughts and prayers and we really appriciate everything. Well the news gets even better, Gavin was on Alimentum which is a great formula but my work gave me some other formula called Enfamil AA. I asked the Gastroenterologist if he could use it and not only can he it is actually going to be BETTER than the Alimentum! We got about 3 months worth of this formula that costs over 30 dollars a can! This month has been much better for everyone, his stomach aches are gone, his poops are normal, he is growing, and now we can give him the absolute BEST formula for his condition. We are really blessed!

The UPS and DOWNS!

Well we were on a high yesterday, we reweighed Gavin and thought he had gained 15ounces! Well I got the mom instinct today, I just kept thinking something is wrong, something is wrong. It was like a nagging voice in my head and I couldnt get rid of it. I finally made an appointment to get him reweighed and.....he lost 5 ounces overnight. He is now 13lbs 6oz! Now every weigh in is 2 hours after his bottle and at least 3 hours after solids, he is naked with a size 2 dry diaper so there is little room for flucuations due to other factors. I was very dissapointed but it reminded me of something. We are the MOMS! We know when something is not right with our own children. We have instinct and we are the advocates. It was a reminder to follow my mommy heart when I feel something is not right. Nonetheless his weight gain now at 10 ounces since Thursday is still WAY more than its been in months and so Im counting this as a WIN! We have an appointment with Primary on the 19th. Here is to the next 2.5 weeks and hoping we keep growing!

Reweighed!

Well Gavin was reweighed on Monday. He has been strictly on Alimentum which is a formula that is predigested so he does not have to break it down. He gained..........15ounces! In four days he has gained more than he has in 4 MONTHS! He is now 13lbs 11oz. So I am waiting for Primary Childrens to call with our new plan! I could not believe it we weighed him 3 times on 2 different machines to make sure it was accurate. Im so so so happy, I cannot believe he finally gained weight. This also gives us some more insight into what is going on in his digestive tract. We now know he is not breaking down the comlex sugars and therefore he cannot absorb them. I cannot wait to talk to the doc at Primary!
